Understanding Running Chafe: Why it happens ??
Common Types of Runners Chafe
Chafing while running isn’t just a nuisance...it's a skin-on-skin and fabric-on-skin irritation caused by repetitive movement, moisture and friction. Here's where it tends to hit hardest:
- Inner thighs – Often due to short inseams and sweat
- Nipples – Especially for men wearing vests
- Underarms – A common hotspot in hot, humid weather
- Under bra straps – A major issue for female athletes
-
Between the toes – Often overlooked but seriously painful
The science behind skin friction and moisture
Chafing starts when sweat makes your skin more susceptible to friction. This weakens the outer layer of the skin, causing redness, burning and even raw wounds if untreated. Add salty sweat and abrasive fabrics into the mix? That’s the recipe for runners chafe.

Our balm is sweat and water-resistant, offering long-lasting protection for up to several hours - even during ultra-endurance events.
